Mapping Emotions: Lessons from Atlas of the Heart

CE Hours 2 2 Clinical

About this course

Emotional literacy is a foundational clinical skill that strengthens therapeutic alliance, supports emotional regulation, and enhances client insight. Yet many clients—and clinicians—struggle to accurately identify and differentiate emotional experiences beyond broad categories such as “anxious,” “sad,” or “overwhelmed.”

Inspired by Brené Brown’s Atlas of the Heart, this experiential and clinically grounded workshop explores the nuanced landscape of human emotions and the role emotional language plays in healing and connection. Participants will learn how to help clients more precisely identify, name, and understand their emotional experiences, fostering increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, and psychological flexibility. Through guided reflection, practical exercises, and clinical applications, this workshop will help clinicians expand their own emotional vocabulary and integrate emotional literacy tools into their therapeutic work. This training is ideal for therapists seeking accessible, practical strategies to deepen client insight, strengthen therapeutic attunement, and support meaningful emotional processing.

Slide deck and numerous bonus resources included.

Please note: participants will be watching a recorded video.

She is also a Certified Brainspotting Therapist and has advanced training in EMDR and Pain Reprocessing Therapy.
