FREE: EquiAttune: Where Brainspotting Meets the Wisdom of Horses

CE Hours 1 1 Clinical

About this course

Curious about how horses can deepen Brainspotting? Join Cara Wilkerson, developer of EquiAttune, for a free 1-hour introduction to this powerful integration of the Neuroexperiential Model with equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning. Designed for Phase I-trained Brainspotting practitioners—no horse experience required—this session offers a first look at how equines naturally expand the Dual Attunement Frame, enhance regulation, and support mindful processing. You’ll watch a brief recorded EquiAttune session with real-time commentary and explore how equine nervous system attunement, relational presence, and nonverbal communication can transform therapeutic work.

Please note: This introduction does not qualify participants as equine-assisted practitioners. It is an accessible doorway into the emerging field of equine-assisted Brainspotting.

Please note: participants will be watching a recorded video.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe at least two ways equine behavior and nervous system functioning contribute to the Dual Attunement Frame and neurobiological regulation within the Neuroexperiential Model.
  • Identify at least two observable physiological or behavioral indicators of equine attunement (e.g., hyper/hypoarousal cues, freeze discharge behaviors) and explain how these indicators can support mindful processing in Brainspotting.
  • Explain one clinical benefit of integrating equines into Brainspotting sessions, including how equines may enhance present-moment awareness, relational attunement, and bottom-up regulation.

Learning Levels

  • Beginner and Intermediate, all levels are welcome

Target Audience

All mental health professionals welcome.
